About us
Labfit is a brand of the Portuguese company HPRD – Health Products Research and Development Lda, which identifies and communicates the laboratory and regulatory consultancy activities focused on pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, medical devices, biocides and textiles. Labfit® has its headquarters at Ubimedical in Covilhã, maintaining a close relationship with the basic knowledge created at the University of Beira Interior (UBI). It was created in 2012 by two pharmaceutical researchers from the Health Sciences Research Centre (CICS-UBI), aiming at the valorisation and transfer of scientific knowledge, providing specialized and excellent services, directed to different sectors of the manufacturing industry, at a national and international levels, in terms of quality control and characterization of its products, as well as R&D of pharmaceutical products.

Its R&D activity results in innovative, patented products, which present themselves as a disruptive strategy in the pharmaceutical market, with a view to relieving symptoms or treating topical conditions. Labfit provides an interesting set of laboratory tests, including alternative tests to the use of animals, in a clear strategy of compliance with the current guidelines of the 3R’s and compliance with the legislation for cosmetic products. Labfit also integrates a European validation network for validation of in vitro tests, EU-NETVAL, Joint Research Centre, being the only Portuguese laboratory to integrate this restricted group of European laboratories.
Labfit is a laboratory specialized in providing laboratory, R&D and consultancy services to the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, medical devices, biocides and textile industries.


At the end of 2019, the second HPRD brand, labfit, appeared, aiming to cover the entire value chain from the conception of the idea to the production of finished product in the cosmetic area and medical devices in the format of contract manufacturing. In the beginning of 2020, the pandemic accelerated this process and labfit immediately started to produce hand sanitizers in its own brand in order to respond to the moment of great need experienced, and later on to produce in private label.

Labfit’s commitment to quality was established at the company’s genesis and, in 2014, was recognised for the first time through the certification of its Quality Management System by the ISO 9001 standard. This certification was the company’s initial goal, consolidating its high standards in working methodologies and its position in the national and international context.

In the strategic guidelines for next year, INFARMED’s recognition, according to the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice, is a decisive milestone for the company, allowing Labfit to present itself as a benchmark in supporting safety testing in the field of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products.

In addition, Labfit is recognised by ISO13485 ensuring requirements to guarantee that medical devices meet customer needs and regulatory requirements for safety and efficacy.
